Why I'm buying an iPad
By TERESA BOARDMAN I have been reading about how the iPad will revolutionize the real estate industry. Some of the legions of consultants and coaches who work in the real estate industry consider it a must-have for Realtors. They don't write real estate contracts, so from their point of view it is "the bomb." More »

Today's successful agent is the one who can speak multiple languages and do business across platforms, utilizing a ballpoint pen or electronic signatures, communicating across the table or in a chat box." --Kris Berg

Teresa, I think the iPad will be a great device. I don't agree with the notion that it is a 'must have' for Real Estate professionals. My disagreement ties directly into your statement about those who do not write contracts. Now this device would serve a nice purpose if configured correctly to write and sign contracts. It would also require the agent to have set up and be comfortable with the security of online file storage. As a digital organizer, it's definitely an awesome device. But I am not sold on it's function as a standalone device within Real Estate yet.

That's a very good point. I use online file storage all the time, but I am
not at all set up with Apple products...I prefer google and the android
network myself.
